What the heck is a Fairy?
Who remembers Tinkerbell? Remember when Peter Pan grabbed her and sprinkled the dust on the boys so they could fly? WOW. I do, I was a child, wide eyed and full of wonder. Peter Pan was so amazing my heart was soaring, I was like, "wow we can fly!"
Afairy (alsofay, fae, fey, fair folk, orfaerie) is a type ofmythical being orlegendary creature found in thefolklore of multiple European cultures (includingCeltic,Slavic,German,English, andFrench folklore), a form ofspirit, often described asmetaphysical, supernatural, orpreternatural.
The label offairy has at times applied only to specificmagical creatures with human appearance, magical powers, and a penchant for trickery. At other times it has been used to describe any magical creature, such asgoblins andgnomes.Fairy has at times been used as an adjective, with a meaning equivalent to "enchanted" or "magical". It is also used as a name for the place these beings come from, the land of Fairy.
Where did they come from?
Fairies as we understand them are a European concept in myth.
Myths and stories about fairies do not have a single origin, but are rather a collection offolk beliefs from disparate sources. Various folk theories about the origins of fairies include casting them as either demotedangels ordemons in aChristian tradition, as deities inPagan belief systems, as spirits of the dead, asprehistoric precursors tohumans, or as spirits of nature.
Who actually Believes in them?
Many ancient peoples actively believed in a form of Fairies, most popularly known heralding from folklore.
Modern New Age Types also believe that these beings exist, and that they might be locked into precious stones and within ancient trees. Witchcraft and other occult practices are believed to be used to either BIND them into these objects or RELEASE THEM.
I dunno about you, but I’ve seen this movie before. And whatever is locked into whatever ancient thing NEEDS TO STAY THERE! ;p
Are they Interdimensional beings?
We here at ThreadWeird are always looking for the WEIRD. So, through our research, quite often we see parallels in how common Alien Theories could relate to established folklore and myth. Yet we don’t see Fairies as we understand them in the European (think Disney) as what others describe as interdimensional beings. (*this is a detailed conversation we will have in other articles.) But hey we might be wrong on this.
Interdimensional beings are now associated with other kinds of strange and bizarre humanoids all over the world. In years past interdimensional beings were seen as a completely separate aspect of the paranormal. However, many creatures such as trolls, goblins, and fairies are now put in the same category as Bigfoot.
Are they Demons?
Quite possibly, in her book, "The Beautiful Side of Evil", Dr. Joanna Michelson covers how evil is often portrayed as beauty.
Serpent means Shining one...
The word that is translated as serpent in the Genesis passage comes from the Hebrew word "nachash", which literally means, “shining one.” Ezekiel 28:12-18, describes Satan as an exceptionally beautiful creature. 2 Corinthians 11:14, says that “Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” From these verses, it is evident that evil does not always appear to be evil.
So what do you think?
Do Fairies Exist? And if so, are they evil or are they good?
